Top 7 Tips for Myofascial Release

Most people understand that there are benefits to implementing foam rolling or self-massage techniques.

The problem is that many people lack the knowledge and understanding of how to get the most out of it. I see a lot of athletes mindlessly rolling on foam rollers for a few mins before acting as a warm-up and the reality is that this doesn't help at all long term.

Fascia is a matrix of connective tissue that encapsulates all of our other tissues. It controls muscular activation and coordinates movement. Because of this, the health of our fascia is essential.

When we do myofascial release, it's important to realize that this is not releasing muscle knots as many people assume, but instead, we are breaking up fascial adhesions.

The key is to be intentional about the practice to get lasting and long-term benefits!
